Underneath It All
Underneath the booze and pills,
Underneath the looks that could kill.
Underneath the scars and broken hearts,
Behind the locked doors where she falls apart.
Underneath the black make-up and clothes,
Underneath the black nails and soul.
Underneath this scar covered skin,
Is a bruised heart that’s broken, stitched, and sunken in.
Hiding from its fear of love,
Hiding from the world above.
Wondering if there’s someone there,
And hoping that the love her more than the clothes she wears.
Going crazy from the fights,
Begging God to make it right,
And praying she lives to see daylight.
I am that girl
Hoping she won’t fall.
I am that girl underneath it all.
