Smiles for everyone to see
But wait this time they aren't fake
Trust me it isn't a piece of cake
For some reason I am truly "Fine"
Someone has helped me find that smile of mine
Maybe I can have that happy life
This time I won't need my knife

I' glad your friend encouraged you to write this. I can be depressed too, but I know I will get better; the process is already starting in me. As for you, be strong.
