I made more friends
in the books I read
and the people I pictured
inside my head
I went to Mars
and reached for stars
when I wrapped my hands
‘round the monkey bars
I had power
and I did not cower
even if it was
for less than an hour
I held no stress
when I felt my blue dress
brush against my legs
as I ran during recess
