She Sits by Her Window Sill
She sits by her window sill
Waiting for what might come
Hoping her dreams will come true
And her nightmares will be gone.
Perhaps she’s been there for years
All the children stop and stare
For the shadow of her tears
Have never been erased.
Is it a groom she is waiting for?
Death itself? A treasured friend?
All we know is it is no more,
And that she’ll wait ‘til she’s at her end.
And still she sits by her window sill
Waiting for what might come
Hoping her dreams will come true
And reality will be gone.
