If These Walls Could Talk
If these walls could talk, what would they say?
They've seen much and yearn to tell their tale
But our words make it impossible to hear them
And their words are reduced to mere creaks and squeaks
If these walls could talk, what would they say?
Being too thick makes it impossible to hear them
Being too thin makes them vulnerable and unheard
Does it even want to stand here?
If these walls could talk, what would they say?
Would they beg to be taken down?
Or would they command us to build them stronger
And cut us off?
If these walls could talk, what would they say?
For all we know, nothing at all
Their purpose is to stand there and study us quietly
For silence is a vow made upon their creation
If these walls could talk, what would they say?
Don’t be silly, walls can’t talk
How can they?
Their purpose is to keep us apart and that is it

Objects around us can be wittnesses to crimes as well as us but they can't talk so they can't provide information and I had that thought when writing this, but feel free to interpret as you wish
