"Who are you?" - Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Chapter 5

"And nothing 'gainst Time's scythe can make defence
Save breed, to brave him when he takes thee hence."
-William Shakespeare,When I Do Count The Clock That Tells The Time

I can hear the music
Those sad, sorrowful, surrendering notes of pain
I wish I could've seen the world
Known all the songs of pleasure
Known all the songs of pain
Listening to the stories told by my African people
The songs of their ancestors held aloft by the intonations of their descendants
I had hoped to wander a truthful world
Not aimless wandering, but with aimless purpose
My people's anthem will carry me on, they will carry on
Words have been dehumanised, degraded and destroyed
Let my aria resonate in the halls of the weak
And the chambers of the strong
With resignation we must hand over our world
To the strong who have made us weak
We didn't fight for our voices
They were simply taken away, moulded, changed
When we speak it is not our words
We speak the world's words, words we never said in our mind
But words we said aloud
So now I sing, and I listen to the songs
For nothing can marr the beauty of the truth in music
Truth is never spoken
Truth is our pathway from which we veered many many years ago
Let melody carry you home
Do not be like those who only listened to the music
When their funeral march began to play...

Truth is a hard thing to capture. I only tried to put my 'song' onto paper.
