"I will work harder" (animal farm boxer the horse)

The last year of my innocence was when I was 10.
I was heading to middle school.
There was so much wonder in store.
The rose inside me bloomed with anticipation
As the old barriers of insecurity finally broke down... only to be built again, stronger than ever.
Once I entered the dreaded establishment my rose wilted and burned to ashes.
Walls of shadows pointed their cold pitch black fingers at me and snickered.
The walls followed me and surrounded me wherever I went.
"What are you doing here?" "Go away! No one likes you!" "Just die!" have become a common gesture when I arrive.
All the pain and agony stabs me until I become numb.
I'm stolid and hateful now
But before the shadows, I was still in blossom.

I like how this poem is so deep and truthful and real about the aging of kids. Its like how when children go into middle school, where ages mix and people are first really pushed into peer pressure and group mentality and judgement really starts in student to student interaction and your resolve, individuality and innocence are truly tested. And this shows how, like most others, it is broken and leaves the person feeling lonely hurt.

I really like this poem because I think it captures the idea of how some young people enter a situation with a very niave perspective, but that can quickly be crushed, never to return again. I really like how you compared innocence to a rose, because once one petal falls, they all fall, and it is never the same again. Great job!
