My Hero
He said, "No matter what happens, I will always love you."
He gave me a tight hug and kissed my forehead.
Then walked off.
I cried for days knowing that could be the last time I see my Daddy again.
And that was the last time I saw him.
That was three years ago, and I still feel his kiss.
I still feel the warmth of his arms around me. Consuming me.
I still feel his love for me deep within.
I know my father didn't want to leave us. His tears told me before he turned away.
He stood tall and looked strong.
When he turned back at us, his smile was big. But his eyes were full of sadness.
My Daddy didn't die for nothing. He died to keep our country safe.
From that day on, I never thought of my father the same. He wasn't just my dad.
He was my hero.
And will always be a hero in my eyes.
