porcelain doll
the porcelain doll fell silently to the
floor
and violently shook the world.
cracked and fragile,
the pieces collided
against the cold, harsh ground,
sharp and unaware;
making a beautifully broken
mess.
they were swept quietly
underneath the rug
along with every speck of
dust and dirt.
because we were
not ready to pick them up and
cherish the masterpiece
before our eyes.
not yet...maybe tomorrow.
maybe someday the
pieces can be put
back together.
and the porcelain doll awaits,
and sadly understands the sweeping;
understands the pain.
