she was born on a leap year
heart skipping beats with
scars of a lifetime to come
tattooed on her soul

she grew up with alleyway love
and back door loneliness
staining the whites
of her forever young eyes

her body became the canvas
of the world around her,
a mural of the places
the night called home

and it wasn't her fault
when her stardust fingertips
became black holes,
and swallowed the ground from beneath her.
