"One part angel, one part perfect, one part wreck" -Hunter Hayes, "Storm Warning"

The breeze from the broken window
Kisses my exposed shoulder,
Intoxicating my every thought,
Entrancing me, pulling me away
From my words, and into your arms.

The touch of your finger
On the skin below my neck
Sends an impulse through my entire body,
Shocking my every nerve,
Each muscle tensing, except for
My heart, which is hammering away.

Your fingertips are tiny drumsticks,
Tapping away at my heart and shoulders.
Your lips are paintbrushes,
Moving in strokes of color and light.
Your canvas, my skin.

I open my eyes.
Shadows, shapes on the wall,
Flickering in the fading evening light,
Darkness rising as quickly as feelings,
Light has fallen with grace and dignity,
And I have fallen for you deeply.

I whisper the words you long to know,
My biggest secret, finally exposed.
We are no longer friends,
We are lovers, discovering
One another’s world,
Slowly, softly, quietly.

We have traveled so far
To finally have reached this place,
And now that I have had you,
You are my home,
And I am never returning to the self
That I used to be.
