First Kiss
There wasn’t a sound,
except for the occasional car.
We walked hand in hand
around the bends,
our lives with uncertain ends.
It was raining.
I’ll never forget
how soaked we were
by the time I had to leave.
The moment lasted forever,
or so it had seemed.
When our lips severed,
I’ll never forget
the way you looked at me,
with loving eyes.
To this day,
you still listen to me,
with grateful ears.
That moment changed
my entire prespective
on life, love, and happiness.
You gave me all three,
on that day we stood by the tree.
For the longest time,
I didn’t want to become too close.
But close I am,
and close I will stay.
