Pieces of My Heart
My heart is the shattered vase
on the tile floor
with pieces so small
it would be impossible
to put back together.
All the pieces,
scattered across the floor,
motionless,
practically lifeless.
They just lie there
like a dead animal
on the side of the road,
and not a single person
cares to notice.
It’s not just them,
who have hurt me.
I’ve hurt myself too,
in more ways than one.
