Why
In this Church
Are the most faithful of the Stained
The hearts etched in glass,
And those who're shining the brightest
Those who can naught but break, bend, and refract the light,
Who cannot even lift their voices to heaven,
But only their
Eyes?

But perhaps that is why
That, though they are composed of frigid stone,
They feast their eyes, feeling the fire of the Holy Refiner
And now burn more feverently than the
Living
Breathing,
As they wait in Anticipation
For the final of the faithful to Fall
Silent,
And the last loving pastor to be infected with Lies,
So they can cry out to God
And
Sing;
For forever their purpose and forever their worship is to call us Home
And silence themselves again.

The author's comments:
Inspired by a church that invites people to worship God together by allowing them to worship their own god. Their stain glass windows are gorgeous, but on the outside displays Christian, Judaic, Islamic, and New Age symbols.

First dentistry was painless.
Then bicycles were chainless,
Carriages were horseless,
And many laws enforceless.

Next cookery was fireless,
Telegraphy was wireless,
Cigars were nicotineless,
And coffee caffeineless.

Soon oranges were seedless,
The putting green was weedless,
The college boy was hatless,
The proper diet fatless.

New motor roads are dustless,
The latest steel is rustless,
Our tennis courts are sodless,
Our new religion — godless.

"I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."

“If you're losing your soul and you know it, then you've still got a soul left to lose”
― Charles Bukowski

This is so beautiful! You never really completed your sentence from the first stanza, but that didn't take anything away from it. I LOVE this I can't even express how much it deserves more attention than it's getting.
