It was a day
I can't forget
Hard as I may try
I remember watching Dad
The compassion on his face
As people called
To make sure that he was alright

That night we ate salmon
As we watched the news
Seeing the twin towers fall
And the pentagon too

I remember Jason Dahl
At a pilot party
How he glanced at me
With those kind eyes
And said he liked my dress

I went to the funeral
Saw everybody cry
Daddy was wearing his uniform
I saw the sympathy in his eyes

I remember 9/11
I remember all the calls
From friends and family
Who were sure
It was my daddy that died

I went to the memorial
For Captain Jason Dahl
People came
And people cried
Remembering their dear friend
I lit my candle
And held it towards the sky
For everyone on 9/11
Who died
