It was a cool September day
When she received the news.
The news that would change her entire life.
She and her family were waiting all day to hear.

Finally, the news arrived;
It was not what they had wanted.
There was no way to go back;
No way to fix it;
Nor a way to get out of this situation.

No one understands why they receive this kind of news.
Nor would anyone ever want to receive this type of news.

The one thing she had in mind was to stay positive.
“Why is this happening to me though?”
She asked calmly but with much confusion.

There was a bit of hope for her.
It could be six years with the right procedures,
though that was unlikely.
She had to be hopeful.

Is five years enough?
Does five years fulfill everything she’s ever wanted to do?
There is never a good time frame.
“You have ovarian cancer; stage IIIC.”

Five years to live.

In my class, we wrote a narrative piece about something that happened to you or someone you know. I wrote this about my aunt.
