driving in at two am
nothing like a hometown
slipping in silently
two am tired as
nobody noticing
familiar soft breathing
as families sleeping
in homes I know…
gently…
the world a bit wider
in moonlight behind me
doors closed like mountains
or mountains like doors
and the soft heavy sky
a blue lover above me
wearing diamonds or
angels or pearls
so i’ll find my way quietly
in a world that will welcome me
home when it wakes
on a soft bed of dawn,
gently…
the world a bit wider
in memory behind me
and everyone waiting
for something.
