~Behind the Mask~
My true face is hidden behind a mask
So no one can see the real me
Because they would never understand.
For years my mask has been a flawless porcelain surface,
Free of any blemishes and marks
Because my mask was perfect.
Their words could never hurt me,
Never wound me,
Never touch my real self.
Nowadays though,
Every remark leaves a crack
On my once smooth mask;
There are now holes showing,
Revealing my true face
For the entire world to see.
You would think that somebody would notice my façade by now,
But how can someone see past my disguise
When they don’t care enough to try?
