The school told me I wasn’t good enough
through a single sheet of meaningless letters.
The choir told me I wasn’t good enough
through cold shoulders and no callbacks.
The magazines told me I wasn’t good enough
through glossy pages of beautiful girls.
I knew I wasn’t good enough
through red marked wrists.
But you told me I was good enough
through kisses and love letters.
And yet I wasn’t good enough
for you to stay with me -
you left for her.
