To Lose Track of Time

As words creep past,
crawl slowly on,
march in a row,
the rhythm of
the ticking clock
is drowned out by
the music of the pages
turning one by one,
the soft sound as the finger
traces tales line by line,
and the rhythm of the reader's heart
as it beats on like a drum
