“Imagine smiling after a slap in the face. Then think of doing it twenty-four hours a day. ”
― Markus Zusak

Skyscraper tops disappear in fog
I'm blind from the mist
Dark circles under eyes
Your scent lingers on my hair
Missing your lips touching mine
Wishing your arms to be around me
The bridge is curved ahead
Rain pouring and steps into puddles
Holding hands
Warmth against cold
Sweet melody escapes headphones
Short breaks of silence
Smiling to self
Wondering if you do too
Nowhere to hide
But the exhilaration
Never understood before
This secret kills me inside
But keeps us alive
Monsters and ghosts after us
No way to shake them
So we try to break them
They refuse to leave
Keeping us without light
Hidden.
