Cold to the touch
If the petals burned any brush of soft skin
Would you love
Me?
If sunrise was dusk
Dark and brisk
If sun gave up before light struck your face
Would you love
Me?
If flesh was weak
Faltering and failed
If sickness overcame the breathing of will
Would you love
Me?
I'd wrap a flower in a blanket
Carry it to you through the night
Kneeling with a smile before your pained bed
I would love you
