Sudden Sophistication
Family dinners are on the cutting edge.
Evening out just got special.
City lights introduce goofy glory,
But artificial tears are enough for me.
A balcony kiss after hours,
It’s too late to keep warm, stay cool.
A sunny day at the beach, chasing death’s shadow
She was carrying a second skin
Perfection has never been so simple.
But she is struggling with healing,
And the stirring fears of reality
She signs the John Hancock
And walks away like Lindsay Lohan
Her tears punched her red, swollen cheeks,
With a thunderous clap
To comfort her that not all is lost,
All but the honor of
Real, unshaken, beauty.
That is Perfection.
