Solitude
It's time for me to walk alone
to see where solitude takes me.
To hear my footsteps echo
and have them no longer scare me.
To feel the world in every pore
(not just someone I adore)
and be able to go at my own pace
and have no one to hurry for.
And to taste each bite of every season
even if I must warm myself.
And learn to appreciate all I live in
and all I don't, as well.
To smell the bloom, the fall, the loss,
that surround me as I go
to finally, for once, just be me,
and learn to be alone.
