Don't deny the feeling within.
Let it burn its way through the skin.

Flint and steel can char through the bone.
Scraping away like pumice stone.
Synapses show through billows, cold.
Tendencies to show in the unknown.

It all seemed to happen lightning fast.
Together, broke apart, how could it last?
Backwards hands of time stand still.
I only stayed for the perverse thrill.

Murder the light so you can dance with the night.
Embrace the feeling wrought by the venomous bite.
Gouge out your eyes so you can't witness the sight.
Thoughts of love and peace are trite.

Don't deny the feeling within.
Let it burn its way through the skin.

Hold these dying emotions dear.
Melt away with the yesteryear.
Seduce my heart with skeletal lies.
Delving down to where light dies.

A chance of hope is less than real.
Neurotic thoughts are hard to heal.
A hollow shell does not appeal.
Another side effect of flint and steel.

Why can’t you see we shattered so long ago?
Only remember warm emotions in times, untold.
Like a product that was bought and sold,
You threw me out when I grew old.

Wash down the taste of hate.
The hunger of sin won't satiate.
Cauterize my life today.
You cannot speak when there's nothing to say.

I knew a harlot would lead to naught.
But still, I endured with feelings, fraught
With paintings of lust and unknown deals.
Another side effect of flint and steel.

Symbols that paint the walls engulf all my sight as I embrace the feelings wrought by the venomous bite.
Can’t see through bloodshot or despicable lies.
This soul is where emotions die.

Don't deny the feeling within.
Let it burn its way through the skin.
Life can sometimes seem unreal
When you have a mentality of flint and steel.

This is so wonderful, I wish I could hear it read aloud... it sounds like song lyrics, to be honest. So beautiful.

:D  Absolutely breathtaking.  I can't begin to imagine the  workings of the mastermind behind these words :), but they're beautiful and so true.  I found myself reading the last stanza several times in a row, to the same effect TS Elliot's poem had on me: "This is the way the world ends, this is the way the world ends, this is the way the world ends--not with a bang, but a whimper." This piece is more than awesome.
