suicide: from a dog's point of view;
I remember when you were only four
You had jumped off the couch
With a cape billowing from your shoulders
Trying to fly like the birds I chased
You fell though and your mother
Scolded you but I was the one
Who licked your face until
You had finally stopped crying
I remember when you were only eleven
Your parents were screaming
At each other and there were sounds
Of broken glass hitting the walls
You were quiet because boys aren’t
Supposed to cry but I was the one
Who covered your ears until
You had finally fallen asleep
I remember when you were only seventeen
You were ripping pictures off
Your wall and they were all of this
Pretty girl I had seen you kiss before
You locked yourself in your room and
People knocked but I was the one
Who growled at them until
You had finally come out again
I remember when you were only twenty-four
Your feet were floating above
The ground and I kept biting your
Socks but you didn’t make a sound
You had learned to fly and
You did not fall but I was the one
Who didn’t understand why
There was rope tied around your neck
