Childish Secrets
Your deep set eyes have that haze in them,
Once again you’ve been blinded by your childish secrets.
Thinking I never know about what you do behind my back,
Behind the closed doors of my heart, I know all your lies.
But I refuse to let you see.
I am no better than you, I’m blinded by the fantasies of a better life.
I’ve hoped, wished, and prayed.
I’ve had faith and felt nothing in return.
Now all my faith is lost, you can see it in my eyes
When you put your hands on me, I only feel the cold reality of nothingness,
No longer the spark that once ignited our standing love.
Now it’s only a pile of rubble after a storm.
There is so much I wish I could say to you,
But when you’re around, I can’t get it past my lips.
It’s like the horrors of my past haunt me until I can no longer take it.
You’ll never know the real me, just like I’ll never know the real you.
Both of us hiding behind masks we can’t seem to take off.
Never knowing one another’s true identities.
There are shadows of my past you’ll never be a part of,
Never knowing if truth is just another lie.
