I’ve been unlaced
Skin ripped and torn lying on the damp grass
Insides tugged across the filthy pavement
The bell being my last line of hope
The anticipation, killing me
The smirks and snarls
That the animals shoot at me
As if I’m not in enough pain already
The birds, chattering in the corner
The beast still ripping at my living body
And the monkeys laughing and pointing
Making crude jokes and immature remarks
When a shy girl’s secret is told
Her world turns into a jungle
She is everyone’s prey
And recess is dinner time.
