My name is Elizabeth
Yeah that’s right, I have a real name
I’m that girl you here about in the hallway
You know the one people talk about – the one you talk about
I think it’s kinda funny you know, how you think I don’t hear you
I know what you’re saying and I know who saying it
Let me ask you something
If you heard the things you say about me directed to you
Would they hurt?
These words have formed into a hand that has me by the throat
When you say these things they spread
Not just to a few people, but the entire school
And once the whole school is calling you the same name
It’s like you are branded
Nobody knows you for your real name anymore
It’s just what they see when they look at you
Do you understand?
Rumors and gossip hurt
Words are viruses
You may not look sick but you feel like you are dyeing inside

I know someone who is going through the same thing right now, but I don't talk behind thier back though. I think that this is a really good piece! Please make sure to read some of my pieces too!

Danielle, thank you for sharing your poem. Years ago, I was The Girl with No Name and now I have a name and most importantly a voice! I'd love to read more of your work, keep up the writing and keep sharing :)
