Shattered Glass
That shattered glass,
my shattered heart.
All the others,
were simply the same,
“Love” that turned bitter
and following an awkward moment.
But she was not the same,
not someone of false interest.
Someone who I truly liked,
Someone I loved.
I asked her to that dance
and she said yes.
I was glad beyond explanation.
The night of the dance came,
and when I there what I witnessed
was incomprehensible.
She came with something else in mind.
Though we danced together mostly,
when separate she was
in the arms of another man.
When I saw this, my heart shattered.
The sound of crashing glass stalked my ears.
That shattered glass,
my shattered heart.
It was the same thing all over again.
