Personal Greatness
I look around
And feel the pang of sorrow
That I will not amount to as much
As much as those
With pure, raw talent
It’s easy to see, they will go far
But for me, what do I have to offer
What can I
Do to make you see
See that I have talent
Somewhere within, deep
You keep telling me
I have nothing
Nothing compared to those born with it
So lucky they are, those naturals
They breeze through life
With such irritating ease
Why can’t it be like that for everyone
Why can’t it be like that for me
And then I feel worse
For I just realize, this is lazy
This is me, wallowing
In that awful, ugly self-pity
Snap out of it, I say
Why can’t I make something of myself
Well, here’s the answer
I can
And I will
Just you wait,
Because greatness from me,
Is yet to come
I may have been born with it
I may not have been
No matter,
For my time to shine
Is now.
