Prose is like walking but poetry is like dancing.
—Paul Valery, poet (1871 - 1945)

My limbs are dead
And I've lost my head,
So this is how it ends.
There's nothing to lose
So I tie the noose,
Cause this is how it ends.
I stand up high,
Might touch the sky,
But this is how it ends.
I'm not ill,
But I take the pills,
Cause this is how it ends.
I sharpen the knife
To finish my life,
Cause this is how it ends.
No tricks up my sleeve
As I forget to breathe,
Cause this is how it ends.
My heart goes thump,
But I take the jump,
Cause this is how it ends.
Don't bother to weep
As I fall asleep,
Cause this is how it ends.
My heart ceases to beat
As the blood pools at my feet,
Cause this is how it ends.

This was inspired by a book that I just recently read, and this is the first time I've been writing in a while, so please tell me what you think and how I can improve!

Thanks all for the feedback, and sorry I haven't written anything in a while, but I'm going to get back to writing more stuff like this, so please check back every once in a while in case I have something new up :D

It also reminds me of a couple of my old poetry, to think about those dark thoughts that no one really wants to talk about.. But they haunt you, don't they?

The repetition of the line "Cause this is how it ends" really lets the poem sink in and grab you to pull you close and get in your face... In a good way! Also, the way the rhyming comes together just makes the poem more enjoyable to read.

As I said, this was inspired by a book I read recently, and when I read, I try to get into some of the character's heads, and this is what I saw. Thanks for the concern, but I'm completely fine - I guess I just look at things differently than other people. :)

When it seems like there’s no one left to run to in this empty world you can come to me I’ll be your shooting star. You can tell me your dreams I can’t promise to make them come true, but I’ll be there to pick up the pieces of your broken heart if your dreams happen to fall through…Unknown

Your welcome. That poem is very deep though. Is there anything you would like to talk about?
