I pledge allegiance
To the flag
Of the United States of America
And to the controversial culture for which it stands
One nation, under whatever deity you choose,
Indivisible since 1965,
With liberty and justice for all who can afford a decent lawyer.

I love this poem! It's simple, yet it definitely shares a distinct message. :)

“The capital-T truth is about life BEFORE death. It is about the real value of a real education, which has almost nothing to do with knowledge, and everything to do with simple awareness; awareness of what is so real and essential, so hidden in plain sight all around us, all the time, that we have to keep reminding ourselves over and over: this is water. This is water.”

Way to tell it like it is!!! I love strongly opinionated work, and this is so sweetly to the point! Great job :)

As far as I'm aware, this country was based on religious freedom, and there are laws about seperation of church and government. That is why many people disagree with the 'Under God' portion of the pledge.

It's true that this poem make fun of the U.S.  And so do I.  I love my country, but satire reminds us of the things that are wrong with the system.

I know my side:  I love America, but there are things wrong with her system.  I support my country, and I support those who see the flaws and bring them to light.

I know it's spelled wrong.  It's a "thing"  I have another account under the name "Valkerie."  :)

How sweet a conservative American nationalist. I hope you realize the author is making fun of the United States Mr. Valkyrie.  Your comment both demeans as well as supports this poem. Maybe in a while you will discover which side you take.  By the way, I believe it is spelled Valkyrie not Valkeryie.

This is so true.  The Pledge is beautiful and all, but it doesn't tell evrything.  (for instance, as an atheist, it's annoying to have to include God in the pledge.  I understand we're a Christian nation, but God shouldn't be an official part of the Pledge.)

There is so much corruption in the legal system, it's not even funny.  It's really sad, actually.

That said, I do love my country.  I live for her, and I die for her.  But even though America is a wonderful country, we have a lot of problems.

Some would call your post disrespectful.  I say that it is more respectful than the official Plaedge itself, in that yours is absolutely true.  You give credit to the good and the bad, in a smart, funny way.

Wonderful job!!
