Weary Winter Walk
Walking
Lost with nowhere to go
Losing hope
Continue trudging
Searching
Is that something?
A cabin?
Shelter?
No… it is a mirage
It is getting icy
I have to be careful
Must find food
Need to rest
Too cold
Too dangerous
Are those voices I hear?
No
I need help
HELP!!!
HELP!!! echoes back
There is no one
I am scared
Must plan something
Icicles form on my cheeks
It is snowing harder
I am getting colder
I cannot feel my fingers
It is getting too hard to walk
My teeth are chattering
It has been too long
No one will find me now
I have to save myself
There appears to be a road
The snow was deep as the 12’ end of a pool
The road is icy
Need snow shoes
Need warmer clothes
Thinking about happy things
Food, family, shelter, warmth
Must get home
Pray
Hope
Keep trying
Believe
