You start playing with your bracelets again
That's when I notice you're wearing too many
Hiding won't work now
I'm smarter then I was then
You're trying to cover up the truth
But the bracelets slip
I don't say anything
I've already tried
I just can't help you anymore
Remember fourth grade?
We used to tell each other everything
Now we are separated by the scars you carve on your arm

I wrote this after I told on my friend because she was cutting herself. We are still friends today. Please, if someone you know is harming themselves, tell your school counselor.

I absolutely love when you say that there are "too many" bracelets on her arm. That part, to me, really stuck out and struck a soft spot in my heart. The only thing that I would recommend, which you really don't need at all, is to make the ending a bit less blunt. I already knew what the poem was about when I was halfway through, and felt that when you said the scars on her arm was a "captain obvious" moment. That's just my opinion, though; I like to keep poetry a little mystifying so that it can be interpreted by people of every kind.
