An Empty Room
An empty room,
Or at least that it appears;
Eyes set on one thing, the center-piece, which displays a lifeless corpse.
To unfocused eyes:
It’s a brother’s clenched fist,
A sister’s plastered on smile,
A mother’s teary eye,
A father’s raised voice,
A friend’s artificial laugh,
A lover’s busy body.
Translated:
It’s a broken heart,
A shield,
Exhaustion,
Aggravation,
Ignorance,
A way to make everything okay.
All with their own purpose, agenda, and reason for being present.
Completely misunderstood by the other;
Together they gather,
In that one room…
