To Fly is To Live
Twirling like I’ve been at it for years
But landing like I fell out of a tree
My locks falling to the side
As at the last moment,
I breathe-
It takes ten years to try
To fly again and I,
I am as radiant as a sun-riddled ray
As perfect as a woman
Taking a leap:
To the sea,
To the stars,
To her beautiful drop
Of golden-
Harmony in the middle of an eve
It reaches out
To my waving hands,
And can’t manage to force
My legs to fall,
My arms to stop
Because I am flying. I am flying free.
