Darkness
As the sun fell,
The moon rose up,
As if to slip into the sky.
He was stuck in utter darkness.
No one had come for him,
As far as he had known.
The sun falling like autumn leaves,
Would not rise again for hours.
For in this darkness,
There was nothing to see.
No rain, sleet, or snow,
No wind about to blow,
And no leaves about to fall.
Inside this darkness was nothing,
But everything unknown.
Inside this darkness was nothing,
But a frightened boy alone.
