Swimming
You hear your event over the speaker
Grab your goggles and jacket and walk to the blocks
Heart is pounding as you pass the crowd of roaring fans
Team mates pat your back and wish you good luck
Coach tells you what to do
You walk up behind the starting blocks
Your heart is racing as your body is filled with adrenaline
Your mind is racing, you forget about the world and all you see is you lane
Your stretch out, loosening all the stiff muscles that appeared
The voice comes over the speaker
Your heart rate spikes
You step up on the block without hesitation
Your cold toes Instinctivly wrap around the edge of the block
You bend you back slightly forward just leaning over the edge
Your heart is beating a million beats per second
The voice over the speaker is talking, you barely here it
It stops then says something else
Instinctively you reach down and grab the edge of the block
You tuck your head between you legs
All you hear is nothing
Silence that seems like forever
You anticipation for the buzz is excruciating
Then you hear it the buzz of freedom
You don't know what you did
Or how you did it
But you go flying through the air like a bird
Then enter the water and kick
Silence as your underwater
Almost calming to your tensed muscles
You break out of the water
Instincts kick in and you ace through the water
As you breath on your side you notice someone ahead of you
You push harder to catch up, ignoring the searing pain throughout your body
You reach the wall and flip
Everything is a blur before you push off
Starting up again
You passed one person and the leader is right next to you
As you breath, you see your team mates screaming your name
You can't hear them, but you understand them
You press as hard as possible
Useing anything and everything you have left
It's now or never
Your lungs scream for air, your body urges you to stop
But you don't breath or stop
You stretch the last foot with your arm
Swishing to your side
You feel your fingure jam against the touch pad
And you catch yourself on the wall
Panting, you hear sudden cheers from the crowd and you team mates
You look at the clock and see you came in first
Just 0.01 seconds faster than your rival
A smile comes across you face
Even though you can barely move
You turn and shake hands with your rival
Congraduating him on a great swim
Every muscle, tendon, ligament screams as you move
But you like the pain
It means you did a good job
Coach pats you on the back
Team mates shake your hand and congratulate you
You sit down on the bench letting your body rest
Until the next race
Then you hear you next event over the speaker
