Fallen Angel
He was an angel in disguise.
Perfect in my eyes.
Glowing Golden halo.
Eyes to captivate.
Charming and intriguing
To everyone he’d meet.
I’d watch the angel
He was about to spread his wings and fly
Carry me away
To the life of our dreams
Which we had patiently desired for so long.
I grudgingly had to let him free.
I watched him slowly walk away
I was heartbroken to see him go but
My soul still danced in his presence.
But as he moved deeper to the forest
His bright eyes became dark
The white light turned black
The halo had hidden the horns of a grotesque creature
No wings to fly
But claws to kill.
If you could see
The shock. the pain. the anger.
In my face
For he was everything I thought he’d never be
Was it a simple trick of the mind?
Was it a transformation that’d been in process?
Or Was it simply who he’d been all along.
Don’t tell me that was the one who my heart had once beat for
Don’t tell me that is the one that I gave myself to
Don’t tell me that’s the one who was the other half of my soul
You don’t know him like I did.
You didn’t feel what I felt
You never saw the angel
And you don’t see the demon.
How foolish to see only a simple man.
But if you believe he once was an angel
You must realize that’s all a Demon is;
A Fallen Angel.
