Nihil Sine Nefas

A bow to greet
A curtsey in reply
A hand to ask
A smile in answer

Feet, two pairs, both
Keeping time to the music
Flowing around, giving
New depth to movements

A twirl that lifts
Showing lace, and
A dip that seems
To defy gravity

A step takes them
Close enough to kiss
Another moves until they
Almost cannot touch

The music slows, then stops
The air gradually stills
A bow in thanks
A curtsey in reply

The author's comments:
I was inspired by the beauty and elegance of ballroom dances, and tried to make my poem sound, when spoken aloud, like it was a dance itself.
