It Was A Dream
it was a dream
the world was covered in a thick white mist
it was a dream
head back, I twirled in a long white sundress
it was a dream
arms outstretched, feet bare in the greenest grass
it was a dream
my eyes are closed and I fall back to dewy ground
it was a dream
I hear a body land softly next to mine in the clearing
I
sense something looming over me, this is who I'd
hoped
would have his hands braced on either side of me
it
is excruciating; the anticipation for further closeness
was
driving me insane, all I want right now was to
not
have to wait any longer for him to lean in
a
little bit closer, just an inch away, from my
dream
boy's lips, which now press lightly against mine
but
they are pressed too light they are pulling away from
my
own lips, he whispers in my ear: okay, open your
eyes
now, I try to wrap my arms round him, they wont move, I
open
my mouth to call him back, I feel his presence is gone
it
was so close a minute ago, so soft, too gentle the kiss
was
yet it lingered for just one perfect moment, just
a
moment, so wonderful, so short and the best
dream
I've ever had, grass turns to pillows and linen sheets
it was a dream
my eyes open slowly, the mist clears, I see four solid walls
it was a dream
I lift my arms, they are no longer glued down by my sides
it was a dream
I lift two fingers to my untouched lips; yes:
it was a dream
