My skin is Black
just like the night sky
where stars lie above
like gleaming fireflies
My skin is Black
just like the dirt
that I have to work
even if I'm hurt
My skin is Black
which has no shame
but at the same time puts my family
through pain
My skin is Black
just like ink
writing down the days
until I sink
My skin is Black
and I'm proud of it
even when everyone else
doubted it
