Come Home
if you were here
your breath would brush against my cheek
a warm autumn breeze
“come home to me”
the need in your voice
is enough to make my heart shatter
into the miniscule pieces
you had once mended
“please come home”
the desire I feel
stretches out in front of me
vast,
magnifying,
covering up my reasons for staying
my voices rises
reluctantly
up my throat
“home is where the heart is
and my heart
is no longer yours”
lost promises,
never kept,
unseen hope,
I am left
without it all
for
I
am
still
here.
