Only Land For Miles
Aqua water rolls,
Piercing the middle of an unknown sea.
A meeting of ice,
Cornering a cotton iceberg,
Breaks the water,
A beautiful sight,
Waiting on one piece of ice.
A cream colored mother polar bear,
Stands proudly
With her head held high.
And underneath her hides a baby polar bear,
Cowering underneath the mother’s bulk,
As if taking cover from cruel nature.
Like the silence of a forgotten cave,
The only sounds echoing through the eerie silence
Are the licking of water upon the ice,
And the pleas of the baby polar bear,
A lost child in the city.
The silence of the ice frightens her intensely,
Much like the moving of the ice beneath her
And the slowly receding iceberg.
The only “land” for miles.
