When the Angels Tore Down Heaven
It was Heaven on Earth
Castle in the Sky, Medley of Life
Nature, trimmed to perfection
Nature, a blooming confection
Gleaming lights and far-reaching spires
A palace to make the angels envious
A palace to make the angels jealous
'Never,' they decreed
'Never for Humanity.
Let them have their metal goods,
Their rusted relics, their golden crowns
But heaven—no.
Heaven is for immortal eyes alone.'
So the Castle crumbled
In Earth, Wind, and Fire.
Nature erupted and spires fell
Down, down, down
Screaming goodbye
For,
'Never,' they'd decreed
With eyes that lusted for beauty
'Never for humanity.'
