the street
I walk along the dimly lit street at night.
Dark hooded figures walk or are they a trick of the light.
The stars twinkle up in the sky.
The moon smiles like a Cheshire cat with no eyes.
The rain starts to patter on the street.
I step in a puddle and soak my feet.
Thunder cracks above my head.
Branches reach out like the hands of the dead.
At the end of the street I know what waits.
At the end of the street lies my fate.
