Awaken

And as the temptress whispers,
Guiding me to wake,
I look at what surrounds me,
Wondering of my fate.

My heart has taken root.
Buried pieces of itself.
Taken hold of family,
Found places among friends.

I ask if this is too good,
Question how this can be true.
Refuse to think of future days
When I won't have this to lose.

I burn to mind the memories
The moments, names, faces.
I etch in stone these days
I want to always stay in

Afraid to shed a tear
In fear sorrow will wash it away.
Reluctant to speed the pace
Of time, premature it fades

I take into my hands
The feeling I haven't processed
And hold them close in silence
Throat clenched, unexpressed

Just how afraid I am
That my eyes will open and see
That all I've found to love here
Is banished to taunt my dreams.

And with heavy thoughts in mind
I find myself awake.
I look at what surrounds me.

Absence.

Empty lonely space.

This was really deep. I related to it and I loved reading it and relating myself to it :) Good job!

Your seriously such a talented writer. I loved your rhyming and choice of words. This is awesome, and really enjoyable/relatable. Thumbs up, and another 5/5 from me. :))

Thank you very much :D And thank goodness I'm not alone in being a stickler for that stuff... though after reading it I've noticed a typo somewhere XD Maybe it's only me that's noticing ;)

And the favorite is so appreciated. It really is.

Thank you -- this one is a stranger one, because it was actually written for a purpose, me actually sort of explaining some of my own thoughts XD Not too common in my writing.

Very glad you like it, and I really appreciate the comments :)
