In Memory
i think what i might do today,
is write a second verse,
for those who sing the bridges,
and the chorus from a herse.
i think what i might do today,
is dance a jig for men,
for children and their mothers
who will never meet again.
i think what i might do today,
is steal a little smile,
from someone hurt or grieving,
for a parent or a child.
i think what i might do today,
is beg a little light,
a little time for fathers,
for patience, and delight.
i think what i might do today,
is grieve for broken pages,
for children lost too early,
through far too many ages.
i think what i might do today,
is celebrate the light,
the life they have that makes us smile,
that forces us to fight.
i think what i might do today,
is love a friend in pain,
remind them that the rainbows come, sometimes
a long time after rain.
i think what i might do today,
is let a strong man grieve,
for something precious lost to him,
and a life too soon to leave.
i think what i might do today,
is let you love that light,
long after the candle has burned away,
and your world is dark, cold, night.
because somewhere there's a sunrise,
and even though its hard to see,
the sun will come again someday..
where you think it cannot be.
~ With great love, and sorow, my friend, a gift.~
