Eleven
My tongue is thick
my cheeks are red
gaze into your eyes
and lower my head
You don’t even notice
keep telling your joke
your blue gaze meets mine
and I almost choke
You give me a look
I can’t tell what it means
you flash a shy smile
and I want to scream
I’m eleven again
awkward with braces
You look over at me
and my heart races
But I’m older now
and I know what to do
so why can’t I be cool
when I talk to you?
